Teaching Philosophy

My personal teaching philosophy is that all students have the ability and potential to learn as well as develop through educational experiences that engage the various learning styles of each learner.  My role as an educator is to provide a safe learning environment and guide students through the learning progress.  It is my moral obligation to embrace cultural diversity and equality. Additionally, it is my goal to provide opportunities through learning experiences that engage, stimulate, and develop personal growth and lifelong learners that help develop social-emotional skills.

For an optimum learning experience, students must be active participants in their learning process while in a safe environment that promotes mental, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Each student is unique and has life experiences that bring something special to enrich the educational experience.  I believe it is important to encourage and guide learners to collaborate with others as well as embrace the cultural differences of others through respect, acceptance, and the promotion of equality.

As an educator I believe teaching is a rich experience of processes of collaborative learning from students, colleagues, parents, and the community at large.  Teaching is a lifelong learning progression where new ideas, new experiences, new strategies, and new philosophies play a vital role in the influence of addressing the social-emotional, educational, and developmental needs of all students.

"Great teachers engineer learning experiences that put students in the driver seat and then get out the way.”
