Drone Pilot Certification

The Drone Pilot Technician program has two modules: Drone Pilot Technician I and Drone Pilot Technician II.

Drone Pilot Technician I (DPTI)

This module provides students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to safely operate unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Students prepare for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Exam while learning basic flight operations, aviation safety, airspace regulations, weather interpretation, and mission planning.

Drone Pilot Technician II (DPTII)

This module builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Drone Pilot Technician I. Students apply FAA regulations while performing advanced commercial drone missions using industry-standard procedures. The course is organized into five knowledge areas: Drone Regulations, Airspace, Weather, Drone Performance, and Drone Operations.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum 18 years and older
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate (GED/HiSET)
  • Must participate in an orientation and placement testing session
  • DPTI prerequisite for DPTII
